Pensioner thrilled to win $1000 Grocery Giveaway

CHRISTMAS came early for Calliope grandmother Jenny Huth who walked away with $1000 from The Observer's Costbuster Giant Grocery Giveaway.

When asked what her reaction was to the phone call that she had won, Ms Huth said: "There was so much going on I was in disbelief."

"We put in so many entries and it never happens," she said.

"It makes a big difference when you're on a pension."

The winning prize was $1000 in Coles gift cards, which Ms Huth said was suitable for anyone.

"My brother is ill in Melbourne so we have to get to him and this will help get us through," she said.

"The rest will go on presents for the family at Christmas time."

The Observer's Giant Grocery Giveaway involved filling in a coupon between July and August, and handing it in to the office.
