Junior AFL carnival a big day out

Noosa Australian Rules Football Club hosted the annual end of season Under 8’s and Under 10’s carnival on a beautiful winter’s day at Webya Road last Sunday.

ALFSC clubs represented were Glasshouse, Meridan, Kawana, Caloundra, Nambour and Hinterland, Maroochydore, Northshore, Coolum Beach, Pomona and Noosa.

Small fields were set up on the main and back ovals, and each team played in a round-robin event with no scoring, and the emphasis on participation and fun.

The day showcased kids in sport and sportsmanship, with many players filling in for those clubs that were short to give all a game of footy.

More than 400 children participated in the day in true carnival atmosphere, with plenty of food and refreshments provided by the Noosa Club and a jumping castle to entertain those children not playing footy or those in between games.

At lunch interval, players, coaches and managers from all clubs assembled on the clubhouse steps for the annual season photograph.

At the end of the day each player received a participation medal from the AFLSC and a gift from the Brisbane Lions, and many clubs took the opportunity to celebrate their season with club presentations and awards.

Congratulations and thanks to all those who helped make the day a great success and a feature of the AFLSC junior football calendar.
