Kate Bush breaks record with eight albums on UK chart

KATE Bush has become the first female performer to score eight albums in the Official UK Albums Chart simultaneously.

Eleven of the singer's albums have re-entered the top 100 following her acclaimed Before The Dawn live shows that kicked-off at the Hammersmith Apollo in London earlier this week.

Two of her records gained a position in the top 10, with her compilation album The Whole Story (1986) entering at number six, and Hounds of Love (1985) at number nine.

Elsewhere, 50 Words For Snow (2011), The Kick Inside (1978), The Sensual World (1989), The Dreaming (1982), Never For Ever (1980) and Lionheart (1978) entered the top 40, with Director's Cut (2011), The Red Shoes (1993) and Aeriel (2005) in the top 100.

Elvis Presley holds the record for the most number of simultaneous albums in the UK Albums Chart with 12 entries following his untimely death in 1977.

Bush previously became the first female artist in history to reach number one with a self-written song. "Wuthering Heights" went on to top the chart for four weeks in 1978.

The singer's chart success follows her return to the stage after 35 years away from the limelight.

The concert has received positive reviews across the board, with The Independent's Andy Gill describing Bush's comeback as "the most ambitious piece of theatrical pop ever seen on a British stage".
