Knight hopes six-day turnaround will help

A SIX-DAY break could open the door for unlucky Adelaide forward Riley Knight.

The small forward had been in solid form for the Crows, playing the opening five games of the year before missing last week's win over Richmond with an ankle injury.

Knight has overcome the injury but has missed selection for Saturday's clash against North Melbourne with coach Don Pyke sticking with the same 22 that flogged the Tigers.

Knights however remains a chance to get a start with Crows assistant coach Matthew Clarke revealing "a number of" players need to prove their fitness before facing the Roos at Etihad Stadium.

"It has been a short week, so we do have some players that have to get through this final training session," Clarke said.

"It's a six-day week and any time you have a six-day week, the recovery process takes until the last session of the week."

While some players remain in doubt, Clarke declared Eddie Betts a certain starter.

"Eddie Betts will be fine I reckon," he said.

"He's probably one of the guys who we make sure he's 100 per cent, but he's fine. He did as much as Eddie needs to do."

Knight averaged 17 disposals in the opening five rounds and his improvement before injury has been a key to Adelaide's unbeaten start.

"He's obviously unlucky, he was in pretty good form before he went out," Clarke said.

"The team's performed well, and that's just the circumstance we're in.

"He understands that, and I'm sure he's going to be a big part of the season."
