Kristensen signs new deal to stay with Roar

FOOTBALL: Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen said he had no doubts about where his future should be after signing a new contract with the Brisbane Roar.

Kristensen has enjoyed a stellar first campaign after signing in the off season for a year.

The 33-year-old said has now signed on for a further two years with the Roar.

"I'm really pleased to commit my future to Brisbane, it was an easy decision,” Kristensen said.

"It's nice for myself and my family to know where our future lies, the focus now is to continue to perform well in the remaining A-league matches.”

"In football, you have good and bad spells but I believe in what we are doing and I know that this group can be successful if we work hard for it.”

The 11-time Danish international hs formed a strong midfield partnership with Roar captain Matt McKay in his first season down under.

Brisbane has hit a rough patch with three defeats in a row but Football Director Craig Moore said the signing of Kristensen would help the team get back on track.

"From day one Thomas has embraced the Roar style of play and shown strong leadership both on and off the park,” the former Socceroos defender said.

"We are very pleased that he has committed his future to the club.”

"BRFC are always wanting to retain our best players and develop a group of footballers that can challenge for trophies, we believe Kristensen will play an important part in helping reach these goals.”
