Legal action trips up Hervey Bay Triathlon

THE future of Hervey Bay Triathlon is in doubt, after legal action was taken against organiser Trifun Events Inc.

The event was scheduled for May 11 with 44 individuals and five teams to take part, but former Trifun president Ron Acutt said it may not go ahead due to a conflict with sponsors.

Unless an alternative company or organisation steps up to take over organisation of the event, it will not be going ahead on its scheduled date in May, Mr Acutt said.

The not-for-profit organisation Trifun has been disbanded in the wake of legal action.

Registered competitors have complained they are out of pocket and eager for answers.

Trifun responded to inquiries on their Facebook page about the reimbursement of between $150 and $180 registration fee by saying "this is no longer my call, but I would expect it to be so if event does not proceed".

Inquiries have also been directed towards the Hervey Bay Triathlon Club as they are frequent supporters and competitors in the event, but the club says it has no association with the event and cannot confirm any information.
