Darth Vader invades Sunshine Coast, brick by brick

ONE of cinema's most imposing figures has been given an LEGO make-over on the Sunshine Coast.

Darth Vader, of the popular Star Wars franchise, has been assembled brick-by-brick in the toy department at Myer Maroochydore.

Assistant store manager Alexis Pead said the massive LEGO figure would be on show for about two months.

"It was supplied to us from LEGO. They have these amazing pieces that travel the countryside," she said.

"It's been getting a lot of attention, not just the children but the adults as well. There are a lot of pictures being taken."

Ms Pead said the Coast was full of LEGO fanatics.

"We have a big following here. Any time we have a toy sale where there's a LEGO promotion we see a lot of diehard fans come in. They're great in supporting us."

 

VADER FACTS

  • The famous reveal of the father and son relationship between Vader and Luke is often misquoted as "Luke, I am your father". The line is actually "No, I am your father".
  • James Earl Jones is famed for providing the voice for Vader however he didn't do the famous breathing effect. This was done by Ben Burt placing a microphone inside the mouth piece of a breathing apparatus and recording it being used.
  • Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is one of only four characters in all Star Wars movies (to date).
