LETTER: Waiting for disaster

THE country is on high alert, particularly after the recent Brussels and Istanbul airport terrorist attacks.

Yet it is all right to search a nun but not a burka or hijab-clad Muslim woman at the airport.

It is all right for a burka-clad woman to enter a bank but not for an Aussie to wear a motorbike helmet.

It would not be the first time the burka has been used to conceal weapons.

Nothing to stop a burka-clad terrorist walking into the Houses of Parliament or a major shopping centre and exploding a suicide vest with terrible results.

But suggest banning the burka and all the do-gooders throw their hands up in shock horror and scream "racists".

Does this country wait for a disaster before it acts to prevent a future tragedy?
