NETBALL: The Sunshine Coast Lightning's pre-season ramps up on Monday morning, when stars Caitlin Bassett and Laura Langman are expected to join their team-mates on the court.
It's likely to be the first time the entire squad will train together, ahead of the Suncorp Super Netball season, which starts in February.
The duo will be welcomed into the pre-season with open arms.
Bassett is the Australia Diamonds goal shooter and she's in-form while Langman is a a stalwart of the New Zealand national side, a mid-courter who can steer the side with precision.
They join Lightning training after having a break from the game, following representative commitments.
The side also includes the likes of England defender Geva Mentor and Diamonds squad member Stephanie Wood.
They will be put through their paces during the lead-up to Christmas.
"It's good to have a great team on paper but you've got to be able to put it into action and do the time on the court and work hard and smart,” coach Noeline Taurua has told the Daily previously.
The Lightning is an initiative of the Melbourne Storm and the University of the Sunshine Coast.
The team is set to be a contender for four-team finals in the new-look eight-team domestic competition.
