THE lavish mansion near Byron Bay where Paul Hogan married his Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski will feature in this year's season of Channel Nine's Farmer Wants A Wife program.

And Bangalow-based real estate agency Unique Estates is also hoping that when the program screens after the Olympics, a viewer will fall madly in love with the Possum Creek house that Hoges built.

That's because the agency is handling the auction next month for the current owners of the palatial home, Sydney entrepreneur Duncan Mount and his former model wife Sally.

"It certainly can't hurt," agency founder Nicolette van Wijngaarden said with a laugh, when asked about the priceless free publicity the property would achieve on the show.

She said it was the first property she showed Farmer's producers when they began searching for a location in the region.

The spacious five bedroom home and expansive grounds made it perfect for their requirements.

Called Cedar Springs, the home on 46ha with a resort-style pool was used for the opening introductions between the bachelors and the wannabe farm girls.

The Possum Creek segments were reportedly filmed in May for the eighth season of the show hosted by Gold Coast-based celebrity Natalie Gruzlewski.

"I've had a lot of interest in it and that's why we're taking it to auction," Ms van Wijngaarden said.

She said there had been a big increase in inquiries generally since July 1.

"It's almost like the new financial year has sprung people into action," she said.

The property, which has a guide price of $6.5 million, down from the original listing of $7.9 million, will be auctioned on site on September 29.

Farmer Wants A Wife will screen from August 15 at 8pm.
