Local netballers off to national titles

Two Noosa representative netball players, Chelsea Waters and Rebecca Adamson, have been selected in the Queensland team to play in the Australian under 16 Catholic Schoolgirls’ Competition in Adelaide this month.

Both players, pictured, are currently students at St Teresa’s College and have also represented the Noosa Association for the past few years. Centre court player, Waters, was a member of this year’s 16 years representative team that finished runners-up at the state titles, while Adamson, well known for her reliable goal shooting skills, played goal attack in the 14 years team.

Both girls have been training every Sunday in Brisbane and will be involved in a practice carnival this Sunday at Beenleigh against teams from New Zealand.

This weekend will be the girls’ first time wearing Queensland colours,

Waters and Adamson join the ranks of Noosa 17 years rep defender, Emma Tickner, who attends Good Shepherd Lutheran College. In August, Tickner represented the Queensland Schoolgirls’ 17 years side in Melbourne, where the team finished undefeated.

She also represented Queensland at the national titles in Perth earlier this year.

Noosa Netball Association will be holding representative development sessions for all players interested in trialling for the 2009 representative teams on November 11, 18 and 25 at the Tewantin courts from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Please see the website for more information about the 2009 selection trials starting in November. www.noosa.netball. asn.au
