Wouldn't it be nice...10 Caloundra residents win $20k
THEY say every little bit counts and for 10 Caloundra residents, that's certainly true.
The group of mainly retirees purchased a Lotto syndicate ticket from Golden Beach Newsagency last week and although they didn't win the big one, their collective entries saw them take out divisions three, five and six.
The result ... $20,961 to share. Not bad for a $14.55 investment.
Golden Beach Newsagency owner Andrew Cox, who also bought into the Tuesday Oz Lotto syndicate, said the win was the store's biggest in its four years.
"We put a syndicate
together whenever the prize pool gets above $10 million and while we've won $20 here and $50 there, this is the first time it's been in the thousands," he said.
"We were one number off doubling our money. We had 23 as a supplementary and the number was 22. But none of us are complaining."
Mr Cox and his wife Kemmy had delighted in letting each of the winners know as they came in to check their tickets.
"There were a few saying they couldn't believe it, and a couple more said 'about time'," Mr Cox said.
