Mackay cop accused of corruption has charges shuffled

A QUEENSLAND Police officer from Mackay facing corruption charges has had allegations against him reshuffled.

Constable Tristan William Lebherz, of Bucasia, is accused of accessing police computer system data about his powerlifting friend Narayan Rodwell in 2015.

It had been alleged the 28-year-old provided Rodwell - a convicted drug trafficker - with information from the Queensland Police Records and Information Management Exchange (QPRIME) system.

But charges of misconduct in public office and attempting to pervert justice have now been discontinued.

Lebherz, represented by barrister Troy Schmidt (instructed by Queensland Police Union Legal Group), is charged with 25 counts of using a restricted computer without consent.

He appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday, before Magistrate Damien Dwyer.

Lebherz case will next be heard in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 22, though the case will return to Mackay.

*Correction: Lebherz' case will not be transferred to Brisbane, but will be heard there temporarily.

A charge of misconduct in public office has now been dropped.
