Man fined for having radar detector and trying to hide it

OWNING a speed detection radar and trying to hide it from police has cost a Hervey Bay man $350.

David Andrew Windle, 37, pleaded guilty in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Wednesday to possessing a speed detection device.

Prosecutor Sergeant Kathryn Stagoll said the Urraween man was caught at Main Beach on the Gold Coast on November 19 last year.

Police conducting RBT's noticed the radar mounts on Windle's windscreen.

They asked him if he had a radar in his car and he said there wasn't, however police found it in the glove box.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell fined Windle $350 and ordered he forfeit the radar.
