Martha off to NZ with national team

Noosa High senior student Martha Kneale’s strict training regime paid off when she was selected in June to represent Australia in the Open Women’s Surf Life Saving national team.

Martha competed in Melbourne, braving temperatures of around four degrees at an outdoor venue. The state relay team of four women broke the Australian record in the open event. Martha is the only girl selected from the Sunshine Coast and one of two girls selected from Queensland to join the Australian team.

The team of seven women goes to Wellington, New Zealand, for five days and then on to Egypt for three weeks later this term. It’s a great honour for Martha and also a big commitment. She has been training six days a week at Noosa Aquatic Centre since she was 10 years old. She also works hard at school and plans to study physiotherapy or medicine at university.
