Mehajer says 'only death' can end his marriage

SUSPENDED Auburn (Sydney) councillor Salim Mehajer has struck back at claims his wife Aysha has taken out an AVO against him, saying "only death" would break up their marriage.
Court documents confirm Aysha, using her original name Learmonth, had taken out an apprehended violence order against her husband.
But Mr Mehajer told News Corp it was the police pursuing the AVO.
"The police seem to have nothing better to do than follow our footsteps. As mentioned before, only death will do us apart," he said.
The matter is listed for mention in court in Sydney Wednesday.
