Mother's abduction nightmare: 'Help, help, help''

A 29-YEAR-OLD Brisbane man will face court today after allegedly trying to snatch a three-year-old boy from a shopping centre.

The man allegedly grabbed the toddler at Lutwyche City in Brisbane's inner-north about 1pm on Thursday.

Witnesses told News Corp that the little boy had been sitting with his mother and sibling at a cafe in the centre when the man allegedly snatched the child.

"The mother was in shock and just yelling 'help, help, help can you get my child'," store owner Maree Deflavis said.

"They were sitting at the table and the child was just snatched out of the mother's hands."The toddler was sitting with his mother when the man allegedly took him.''

The child's mother screamed for help after the man began walking away with her son.

The 29-year-old dropped the toddler and ran.

People in the area, including two off-duty firefighters, chased the man and tackled him to the ground.

He was held on the ground until police arrived.

A 29-year-old has been charged with child abduction and is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
