Motorcycle rider thrown down steep embankment in crash

A MOTORCYCLE rider has been airlifted to hospital after running off the road and down a steep embankment near Maleny.

The 20-year-old man fell about 20m down a bank and his motorcycle careened into thick bushland in the crash on Maleny Stanley River Rd, Booroobin, about 11.30am.

Emergency services made a pulley-system using rope and a rescue board to pull the man up the embankment to the road.

He was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with a suspected shoulder injury.
