Mum caught behind wheel on ice, marijuana twice in two weeks

AN Andergrove mother caught driving with ice and marijuana in her system twice in as many weeks has been warned Child Safety Services could end up involved.

Rebecca Louise Flindall, 22, fronted Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of driving while methamphetamines (ice) and marijuana were present in saliva, on December 16 and 30 at Beaconsfield.

Prosecutor Sergeant Sabine Scott said Flindall tested positive for ice after police pulled her car over.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer asked Flindall if it was accepted she had the two drugs in her system "on the second occasion".

"I hadn't, like, taken any since the last time, so I didn't think it would still be there. It was just straight over Christmas and I just got a bit careless, really," Flindall replied.

Mr Dwyer said that was "rubbish" and noted previous drug convictions.

Flindall conceded she "smoked marijuana on a regular basis to deal with my anxiety".

Mr Dwyer warned Flindall "if you want to keep playing around with these drugs, the department will get involved with your daughter and you'll lose her".

Flindall said she understood, and was then disqualified from driving for nine months and fined $1100.
