NDSHS students shave for a cure

YOUR STORY: Noosa District State High School Year 12 student leaders Ruby Tucker and Reagan Greentree coordinated this year's World's Greatest Shave fundraising event held in the school hall.

Six brave students opted to have all their hair shaved off to raise awareness and money for the Leukaemia Foundation at lunch last Friday.

Year 12 student Talei Becker was the only female student to have her head shaved during the lunch time event and was supported by friend Rhiarn Harris, who had shaved off her hair the weekend before in solidarity for her grandmother who lost her hair in a battle with cancer.

Noosa Civic Stefen hairdresser Steph Brown volunteered her services for the shave while Ruby worked with student leader Georgia Leslie to MC the event.

Students donated money to support and watch their friends have their heads shaved, with a collection tin passed around to all those who were in attendance.

Business students set up a cake stall and sold baked goods to the crowd that gathered to cheer on those shedding their locks.

All money from the bake sale was added to the donations to the Leukaemia Foundation.

The total amount raised is yet to be counted, but the collection tin was very full at the end of the lunch break, indicating the event was a great success.
