NDSHS teacher takes on Livio's weather knowledge

Noosa District State High School Luke Lanham had the validity of a cyclone story that he shared with his class questioned by Year 11 student Jamison Kehl who fact checked it by local weatherman Livio Regano.

Mr Lanham told his class that as a child he remembered numerous cyclones hitting Nambour in the 1970s and destroying the roof of his home.

Student Jamison Kehl questioned Mr Lanham's story, uncertain that throughout the 1970s, for consecutive years, cyclones came through Nambour and she decided to check the facts through her father's Channel 7 work colleague, weatherman Livio Regano.

Mr Regano found Mr Lanham's story very unlikely after delving through the Bureau of Meteorology's cyclone archives and finding little information to support Mr Lanham's claims of multiple Sunshine Coast cyclones during the 1970s.

Mr Lanham was not deterred by Mr Regano's findings and compiled his own list of cyclones that he believed impacted the Nambour region.

The weather conundrum continues...
