THE flicker of light from a candle was all it took for Emma Gunns to ignite a new career.
The owner of VIP Picture Framing in Nambour, had been in the shop for 12 years and decided to follow her passion and add a section that would sell gifts good for the soul.
So far, the response has been very well received.
Grace - Gifts for the Soul has opened a new market and filled a void Grace said was left when Coastal Wellbeing closed.
"The beautiful ladies in there created a space where everyone was welcomed warmly and left feeling valued,” Emma said.
"I kept hoping someone would start something to fill the void... I guess I got tired of waiting,” she added with a laugh.
Emma said the real push to open the shop was when a close friend gifted her a candle.
"I enjoyed this candle for hours and hours, sitting by candlelight contemplating everything,” she said.
"It was soothing to my soul.”
Emma went on the hunt for the perfect candle with plans to stock it in her framing shop.
"But the picture kept expanding, selling candles wasn't going to be enough.”
Now the shop stocks items to soothe the soul.
It includes crystals, self-help books, artwork, jewellery, music and fair trade homewares.
"I wanted everything to be unique,” Emma said.
"We went to a gift fair in Melbourne and brought back plenty of special finds.”
Grace - Gifts for the Soul is in C-Square, Currie St.
The store will be open Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm.
