Newman unmoved as poll shows 70% find him arrogant
POLITICS, Premier Campbell Newman says, is not about being popular.
"It's about doing the right thing, delivering on jobs and a stronger economy. It is about getting frontline services, like the trains to run on time. That's what we're about, and we'll continue to do that," he said on Monday.
His job now is to convince the electorate of that. The most recent Galaxy poll reveals that may be harder than even his advisors had planned for, with more than 70 per cent of the 800 people polled finding Mr Newman arrogant.
Perceptions are hard to shift. But Mr Newman said he would just keep focussing on the job at hand.
"We're always looking at how we can do things better. We promised we'd listen and consult more and we'll be doing that," he said.
