Police shocked to find offender only nine years old

MITCHELL police were shocked to discover a nine-year-old boy was responsible for breaking and entering a home.

An iPad was stolen from a Mitchell home in broad daylight last Thursday.

Mitchell police Senior Constable Dennis Sorensen said the home was completely secured when the crime happened.

"In this case the doors and windows were locked, however the matter was sold through community members reporting suspicious activity to the police," he said.

"It is a reminder to residents to contact police if they witness any suspicious activity."

The Ipad was recovered and the boy was dealt with under the Youth Justice Provisions Act
