Nippers keep busy

Over the past few weeks Noosa Heads Surf Club Nippers have been extremely busy with carnivals nearly every weekend.

The first weekend of this month we had a large number of our nippers head down to Maroochydore for the annual under-11 to under-14 Maroochydore Nipper Carnival, which was a huge success.

Robbie Hayes placed first in the under-14 male surf board as well as placing third in his surf race.

Tuene Piggot did well to place fifth in her under-12 surf race, and Archie Glassock picked up fourth in his under-13 surf board.

We also had a number of teams do very well.

The under-13 cameron relay team of Joshua Elmslie, Joshua Munro, Samuel Hart and Tyler Liddle placed fourth, along with the under-12 cameron relay team of Alexandra McLean, Grace Anisimoff, Rianna Dorey and Tuene Piggot.

Rianna Dorey and Tuene Piggot came fourth in their board rescue.

The weekend of November 15 was the first Club Championships carnival for the nippers.

Congratulations to all of the nippers who joined in on this day, and thank you to the parents who helped out.

Last weekend our dedicated nippers gathered, once again, down at Met Caloundra for another carnival, where we had more excellent results.

Meg Gemmell placed second in her under-11 board race, and Tuene Piggot placed fourth in her under-12 ironwoman.

The under-13 female surf team of Cecilia Luhrs, Laura Eden, Nicola Baxter and Ruby Wilson-Tucker placed sixth, and Patrick Matters, Robbie Hayes and Lachlan Lansdown placed fourth in their under-14 board relay.

Robbie Hayes he not only won his ironman event, but also his board race.

As well as our nippers, our surfers are also doing extremely well.

Over the weekend, 83 competitors gathered, from under-11 through to masters, to try to take out their respective age group trophies.

In the end the cadets, masters and opens were all mixed into one very flexible age group in which we placed first and second in the male group.

This was a massive effort from Jesse Halkett and Kelly Chilton, cadets who were surfing against older and more experienced competitors.

Sophie Callister, who is also only a cadet, managed to top the female opens.

When it comes to the nippers, we topped every age group we entered.

Lucy Callister won the under-12 female, Cecilia Luhrs took out the under-13 females and Nick Callister won the under-14 male age group.

We would like to thank the coaches for there time and effort as well as the parents who come along and support the children.
