LANDSCAPE design, construction and maintenance business, Outside Noosa, took out two coveted category wins, and achieved finalist status in a four further categories at the 32nd Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards held at the Hilton Brisbane.
Their Commercial Maintenance Award win recognised Outside Noosa's work within the Noosa Springs residential precinct, a project with which the business has enjoyed more than a decade-long association.
Outside Noosa trumped three other finalists to win this highly competitive category.
Outside Noosa holds garden maintenance contracts for three of the six residential precincts that are part of the 103 hectare Noosa Springs master-planned community.
The gardens have a "formal, sub-tropical" theme.
In addition to prescribed actions within a detailed annual maintenance schedule, in the past year Outside Noosa has undertaken remedial works in a staged manner, owing to the life-cycle of the project.
This added much to the streetscape and overall appeal of the areas.
The second category win was for Residential Landscape Construction, for projects of total cost up to $80,000, and applauded Outside Noosa's reconstruction of an existing garden at Sunrise Beach.
Outside Noosa took out this award ahead of six other finalists from across the state.
The initial client brief asked for some structural ingenuity to realise a large, contemporary, usable space, replacing a backyard that had long since lost its appeal. Outside Noosa's redesign had structural integrity at the core, and employed the very best landscape products.
The project is notable for the exemplary precision with which the Outside Noosa team installed every element.
Outside Noosa Co-owner and Manager John Scomparin accepted the awards, along with the firm's Maintenance Supervisor Alan Speck and Landscape Architect Abi Leybourne, in front of more than 300 industry colleagues and their guests.
This was the best result for Outside Noosa since they began entering the Awards four years ago, having achieved their first category win in 2012 and a further two in 2013.
"Receiving these awards is really a by-product of our determination to fulfil our clients' vision.
That said, it is very nice to be recognised for excellence in front of our peers," says John Scomparin.
He adds, "There is no doubt that every year the standard across all award categories surpasses the previous mark, and we are pleased to be flying the flag for our region and harnessing that creative, competitive element."
