SOAPBOX: Yeah, it's a sunset, get over it
OH MY God!
Did you see the sunset last week?
No sorry, I was too busy framing it up on my iPhone 6 and deciding which filter to use before I upload it to Instagram to actually enjoy it.
Shame, it was a beauty.
Ah it's all good; I'll still get to enjoy it through the 38,000 photos people upload anyway.
Oh look, I got a few likes, awesome.
Are we that obsessed with technology, social media and whatever else, that the sight of an exquisitely routine sunset sends us into rapture?
They happen every afternoon.
Shame so many idiots don't actually take the time to stop and soak them in every now and then, instead of just snapping away and banging them online.
Who cares who saw the sunset, or where from, or what filter you used? I don't.
What's wrong with pulling the car up on Bradman Ave on the way home, hopping out and actually just standing there admiring the view?
Hell, maybe even talk about it with a real person standing nearby.
It sounds crazy, but you can actually leave the phone in your pocket. You don't need to share this daily event with your 300 followers.
I know, I'm talking madness, but it's actually a glorious experience to enjoy a natural sight without interruption every now and then too.
Just enjoy it for what it is, on your own, and move on.
Gotta go, the breeze just blew a leaf off the ground. It's incredible. Just gotta get it on Twitter ASAP!
