Pedestrian killed in traffic incident on Old Tannum Rd

UPDATE: A 31-year-old man died after being hit by a four-wheel-drive on the Old Tannum Rd on Sunday morning.

Around 6am, the car and pedestrian collided on Tannum Sands Road near the Broadacres Drive intersection.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after police and ambulance arrived.

Authorities were notified by another motorist at 6.07am, who reported a young man lying on the road.

Police confirmed the man was struck by a four-wheel-drive near the Broadacres Dr intersection.

The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured in the crash. 

The deceased man has been identified but his name cannot be released at this stage.

The road, between Tannum Sands and south to the Bruce Hwy, remained closed until noon while police investigated.

Police said they could not release any more details while investigations continued.

The man has been identified by police, but his name is unable to be released at this stage.

The road, between Tannum Sands and south to the Bruce Highway has been blocked at both ends and is expected to be closed until at least midday Sunday.
