One day I can do it again: Stosur
THE opportunity to defend her title may be gone, but Sam Stosur says she can definitely win another US Open.
Speaking after her 6-1 4-6 7-6 quarter-final loss to No.1 seed Victoria Azarenka, Stosur said she would take enormous confidence out of the tournament after what had been a largely disappointing year.
"I think going into this tournament I was struggling a little. To really turn it around, you know, in one of the biggest tournaments of the year, that's what we come out here and play for," Stosur said. "I think that proves to me that I am capable of doing it. To have another showing here at the Open like this, it for sure gives me confidence to think that maybe one day I can do it again."
Stosur said she would be back in Australia next week before heading to Japan for the start of a series of tournaments in Asia.
Azarenka will now play the winner of the Maria Sharapova versus Marion Bartoli match, which was rained out with Bartoli leading 4-0 in the first set, for a place in the final where the likely opponent would be Serena Williams who was due to play Ana Ivanovic in a quarter-final last night.
