OPINION: Things looking up for the year ahead
THERE is a real feeling of positivity in the air at the moment.
It seems that 2019 has started off on the right foot.
It's encouraging to see our real estate market doing so well.
Recent stories show that houses are selling for good prices in our towns.
It is clear to see there is plenty to look forward to.
Major projects are getting started, making progress or nearing completion.
Funding is flowing and plans to improve our roads are afoot.
In the farming world, there is plenty of positivity as well.
Despite the drought and some truly tough times, producers are looking forward.
Both spoke about their hopes for the South Burnett food industry.
What inspired me most was their dedication to working with others.
Mrs Schablon hopes to create a "food trail”, encouraging South Burnett eateries to source and use local ingredients whenever possible.
Mrs Troeth, meanwhile, is in the process of building her own business and she hopes to share other people's produce with customers.
It can be easier to get bogged down in negativity sometimes, but I say let's keep looking up this year.
There is so much to feel positive about in this great region of ours.
