Originals spread to Cooroy park

THIS Sunday the East Coast Originals expands into Apex Park, Cooroy.

The Cooroy Originals will run on the fourth Sunday of every second month, and if the community supports the idea, it will move to every month.

I have met the new organisers of the East Coast Originals a few times and Marcus and Steve have an incredibly professional attitude towards the event and a fresh new outlook for the longevity of the Originals.

The Peregian Originals was on shaky legs there for some time and this fresh approach seems to have gone a long way to mend bridges with both the council and local residents.

The East Coast Originals serves as an amazing platform for local acts to showcase and refine their skills in front of a large crowd as well as simply giving all of us who live on the Coast an awesome Sunday arvo full of great live music.

For those new to the Originals concept, it's a family-friendly event that only survives on small donations into the roving hat on the day.

There are always at least four smoking bands on the line-up, so a donation of at least $5 per person sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Performing at the first Cooroy Originals will be The Hayden Hack Infusion, Matt Stillert, In2nation and Tea Society.

It runs from 1-5pm and there will be food stalls available.

A show not to miss tomorrow night if you like it hard is Astroboi.

In the mid-'90s when the new wave of punk rock broke into the mainstream and made bands like Green Day and Blink 182 household names, if you lived in Queensland and listened to punk rock, you knew who Astroboi was.

From their debut top 10 Australian Aria alternative release, Astroboi's rise was quick to the top of the Australian scene with head

lining shows and touring with international acts.

They have already sold a stack of tickets for this show at Kings Beach Tavern so if you like Astroboi try to buy your tickets presale.

The supporting bands are Hotel Escobar, Cash for Kaos and True North.

Dubmarine and Chocolate Strings will be part of a huge night at the Solbar tonight.

It's a great weekend of live music all round and hope to see you out there at one of these shows.
