MEMBER for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen has been branded "Tin Man" for refusing to stand up for his constituents.
Queensland Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk likened the MP to the famous Wizard of Oz character for his refusal to oppose the LNP over its decision to sell Lazy Acres Caravan Park.
The Labor leader also took aim at Premier Campbell Newman, and accused the government of lacking compassion.
"The local member and Campbell Newman, they're like the Tin Man, they have no heart," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"It's absolutely disgraceful what they're doing here. The turmoil that they're actually putting on the local residents, the uncertainty, residents are very upset - the government has a lot of explaining to do."
Ms Palaszczuk was in Hervey Bay to meet with people who call the caravan park home and listen to their concerns.
Residents of Lazy Acres had their future placed in limbo recently when the LNP announced it would sell the government-owned site.
About 62 people live permanently at the park with some calling it home for almost 30 years.
The site is one of three across Queensland that the government plans to sell in a bid to fund more social housing.
Ms Palaszczuk made a dash up the highway to visit the Lazy Acres residents yesterday after a car accident last week caused Shadow Housing Minister Jo-Ann Miller to cancel her planned trip.
Ms Palaszczuk said two senior ministers visited the Fraser Coast yesterday and they should have taken the time to go to the park to look the residents in the eye and explain their decision.
