Cat rego now compulsory on the Coast

CAT registration is now mandatory in the Sunshine Coast.

Councillors voted on the change to the local laws surrounding cat registration at their ordinary meeting yesterday, after an extensive review of factors such as impound statistics.

The annual registration is $12.90 or cat owners can take up an offer of a one-off lifetime registration of $75.

Councillor Jenny McKay said the structure of the fees was designed to drive responsible pet ownership and reward owners who desex and microchip their pets.
