PEREGIAN Beach will step into spring with style.
Eight restaurants, 15 retailers and two up-and-coming designers will raise a glass to the new season tomorrow at the Peregian Beach Food and Fashion Fiesta.
Retailers and restaurants will hold the fourth annual event - a gourmet lunch and fashion parade - in the Village Green at Peregian Beach.
For the first time, two TAFE Queensland East Coast students will showcase their work to give them a foot in the door to the retail industry.
Second year applied fashion design and technology students Yasmin Bridges and Clare Faulds already have a business presence on the Coast.
Event organisers felt this year would be a great time to not only promote local businesses, but also local talent.
Ms Bridges, who uses sustainable and recycled materials, sees her
designs not just as fashion, but as a means of encouraging people to think about what they buy and the ethical impact of their choices.
Ms Faulds targets her designs at the woman who wants a wardrobe that is stylish, comfortable and can be quickly assembled and worn.
Lions Peregian event coordinator Michele Lipner said it was an exciting time to offer young designers a chance to show off their talents.
"This is exactly what we are seeking to achieve with the Food and Fashion Fiesta - to promote local businesses and what is available if people buy local," she said.
The fashion show will feature designed from this season's spring and summer collection from Peregian's boutiques.
Peregian Beach restaurants will serve a gourmet two course meal with a complimentary glass of wine while guests enjoy the sunshine and fashion parade.
