SATURDAY saw the opening round of the Sunshine Coast Rugby League for 2017 as the Noosa Pirates travelled to Wises Rd to take on the defending premiers, Maroochydoore.

The day kicked off with the Under 18's with New Coach Michael Duff at the helm,taking on the the Swans of Maroochydoore.

After being on the receiving end of a 30 point defeat in a trial last week, the Pirates sought redemption and they delivered in spades.

A week is a long time in Football as the Young Pirates displayed terrific skills and great discipline which proved to be the Major Factors in a decisive 40 Points to 32 Victory.

Try scorers for the Pirates were Ethan Wikaira 2, Mitch Javernig, Blake Wilson, Darcy Brennan, Lockie Delbridge, Tyler Quigley,

Division 2 clash welcomed some New Pirates on board as well as some old faces returning for another season.

The boys showed real tenacity and Pirate spirit to record a stirring 28 point to 20 win over the Swans.

Coach Anthony Zipf was pleased with his Chargers and with the return of Senior players next week Places in this team are far from certain.The message is simple ,get to training and claim your spot. Try Scorers were Ben Hayes 3, Anthony Zipf 2, Scott Christensen, Lauchie Gladman kicked 2 Goals.

Young players don't be shy to score a try the OLD Boys did it withstyle. The Main Game kicked off in Slippery conditions and what a game it was.

The new-look Noosa Pirates,with many new players taking the field showed that they will be a major player in the 2017 Season.

Although the final score seeing Maroochydoore win 24 points to 18

None of the Pirate faithful who braved cyclonic type conditions to attend the game were disappointed by the result.

Massive Congratulations to Coach Ron Greentree and Welcome to our Newest Recruits who wore the Pirates jersey with Pride and Dignity. Try Scorers Jack Cornsford 2, Jordan Remfries 2, Jonah Hope Hodgetts kicked 1 goal.

This Saturday, March 25 sees the Pirates return to Pirate Park as they take on rivals Nambour.

Game times at this stage are Division 1 Noosa vs Nambour 5.30pm, Division 2 Noosa vs Nambour 4.00pm, Under 18s Noosa vs Nambour: no time set as yet will inform via web page .
