Play it cool this autumn

It may be only a matter of weeks before summer slips into autumn, but the style shift has already started.

While temperatures aren't about to drop enough to enjoy all those cosy knits hitting the shelves, these transeasonal trends are in their element now.

Easy-wear denim

Early autumn is still about the light to mid-wash denims, so don't reach for the dark hues just yet. Trade your floaty maxi for a tailored denim midi, add a cropped denim jacket as the nights begin to cool, or couple a long-sleeved blouse with two-toned jeans for an effortless smart-casual look.

Bolder florals

You're not breaking the rules if you opt for a flirty floral come autumn. Look for bolder blooms on darker base shades of pink or earthy tones. Prints splashed with deep green or navy are also on the radar.

Cover up

Show a little less skin and swap the shorts for a pair of relaxed culottes, ditch the spaghetti-straps and go for an elbow length or capped sleeve tee, and accessorise with a silk necktie for a sophisticated finish.

Comfy kicks

While summer was the season of slides, mules reign supreme in autumn. For a transitional twist, style your go-to party dress with a pair of boots instead of summery sandals. When it comes to day-to-day footwear, it's all about stylish sneakers (comfort + cute = no brainer).
