Pleasantly surprised at public meeting

Federal Member for Fairfax Ted O'Brien.

TED O'Brien, our Federal Member for Fairfax, held a public meeting at the RSL club on Wednesday.

This is the first time I have ever been to a public meeting organised by a federal politician where they never talked about government issues or never promised what they were going to do for us.

Instead, Ted O'Brien, over two hours, asked us (about 60 residents) what we feel are the best things about living in Nambour, what are the things about Nambour we would like to see improved, and then he spent the last hour asking us how we wanted Nambour to feel and look in 2027.

He combined our comments and suggestion with a large number of responses from locals to a previous request by letterbox drop.

He told us what he had discovered over the two-hour meeting.

No doubt he will release his findings, so all residents will have an understanding where Nambour is going based on the local peoples' responses.

I can't imagine the previous Member for Fairfax having a meeting where he asked for the public's input regarding the local area.
