Police confirm body at Nambour was Michael Gent

POLICE have confirmed the body found near Quota Park, Nambour last Sunday was labourer Michael Gent.

Mr Gent went missing from Nambour on May 28, he was last seen buying groceries at Woolworths Nambour.

SES volunteers searching for the 36-year-old, found his body in Petrie Creek about 2.40pm Sunday afternoon.

A police spokesman said the death appears to be non-suspicious and police would prepare a report for the coroner.
Earlier this week police confirmed the body resembled the description of Mr Gent.

Acting Detective Inspector David Somerville said there was "no obvious sign of any injuries" on the body, which was estimated to have been in the creek for about four or five days.

Det Insp Somerville said Mr Gent was on the Sunshine Coast working as a carpenter. He travelled around Queensland looking for casual jobs.

It is believed he had been travelling with a friend and was working at Emerald before coming to the Coast.

Mr Gent was at Woolworths Nambour when his friend was called away.

When he returned to the shopping centre he could not find Mr Gent.
