Police officer suspended over car crash death

A QUEENSLAND traffic cop has been suspended from official duty over his involvement in a car crash that led to a person dying. 

A 31 year-old Constable from Road Policing Command was convicted in the Roma District Court yesterday on one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

The court sentenced the officer to two years imprisonment, wholly suspended. 

"In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct," a statement from Queensland police read.
