Police probe after Goodes and Franklin allegedly cop abuse

A 70-YEAR-OLD Victorian man has been charged with offensive behaviour after allegedly racially vilifying Sydney Swans stars Lance Franklin and Adam Goodes during Sunday's match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

Neither player heard the comments, but Victoria Police confirmed a Bulldogs supporter had been removed from the ground after making the comments. The man was pointed out to police by other fans at the ground.

Franklin (pictured) issued a statement yesterday, saying: "It's disappointing that it's still happening in the community and especially at football games."

Earlier this year, Essendon revoked the membership of a supporter accused of making racist comments towards Goodes at a match at the same venue.

The dual Brownlow Medallist was named the 2013 Australian of the Year for his leadership and fight against racism on the sporting field, and within society.
