Armed men threatened homeowners in early morning invasion

POLICE were knocking on doors yesterday at Maroochydore to uncover whether anyone heard noise during a home invasion where two armed men threatened homeowners in the early hours of the morning.

While the residents living on Beach Parade slept, two men made their way into a home close to the end of the street, wielding guns and demanding money.

Acting Detective Inspector Daren Edwards said the pair left empty handed.

"It is unknown at this stage why these people were targeted," Acting Insp Edwards said.

Police confirmed the homeowners did not intend to lay charges.

However, it was a concern that there are people on the Coast making threats with firearms.

"It is certainly alarming that people are armed with firearms and marking threats," Acting Insp Edwards said. "This underlines the need for home security."

Anyone who heard or saw anything or any vehicles should call Crime Stoppers on phone 1800 333 000.
