Man spotted floating in river

A SEARCH and rescue is underway in the Brisbane River for a man who is believed to have been missing since earlier this evening.

Officers were called after a member of the public claimed they saw a man floating in the water near the Gardens Point City Cat terminal at about 7:25pm.

The man has not been spotted since.

Water police, POLAIR and officers are searching in and around the river on both sides.

Anyone that may have seen a man enter or leave the water in the Southbank, Kangaroo Point or Gardens Point areas â€" or may have seen anything from the Goodwill Bridge or Captain Cook Bridge â€" are urged to contact police immediately.

More information to come as the search continues.
