Police spot man’s weed stash on way out

A 24-year-old was close to getting away with his weed stash before police spotted it on their walk to the car.

Jotham Levy was fined in Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday for possessing and producing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone said police went to Levy’s home for an unrelated reason and were leaving when they found a marijuana plant.

“They identified a cannabis plant growing in a pot in the backyard, 10m from where the police vehicle was parked,” she said.

“He (Levy) said it was his plant, he waters it when required pending rain.”

Levy pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils or pipes that had been used.

Sergeant Johnstone said police also found 1g of marijuana in Levy’s bathroom and a bong.

Magistrate Haydn Sternjqvist fined the Doonan resident $550.

No convictions were recorded.
