YOUR LETTERS: Preach one thing, then practise another

AREN'T we an amazing human animal then?

We kill wildlife, birds, kangaroos, koalas, dingoes, cats, mice, foxes - by the hundreds - in order to protect cattle and their food, or to make way for grazing land.

Whilst we are doing this, we are destroying valuable land often left unsalvageable due to destruction. We are polluting our streams and intensifying the issues of climate change.

Then we slaughter these animals or send them to countries where, depending on one's definition of "accredited abattoir", they are killed inhumanely (SCD 20/5).

Being hit over the head with a sledge hammer, or throat slit with a blunt knife, is hardly what I call civilised.

This practice of meat-eating then in turn kills us in terms of heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes and cancer.

We then look for a remedy for these diseases and kill many more animals.

We kill so readily, with much violence, then when we give thanks for our wonderful meals, preach "kindness and compassion to all".
