Quality coffee at new Sunshine Coast drive-through

A NEW drive-through coffee shop at Pelican Waters is treating caffeine junkies in the Caloundra south area with quality coffee, Italian-style.

Located next to the Puma petrol station in the new suburb, Bean There Done That Espresso Bar customers can expect "cheeky banter" when they order and a hit of strong "real coffee" when they drive away, co-owner Daniel Carew said.

There's just one window for orders and pickups, no computerised menu, and if you step inside the modern café you'll find furniture and artwork, all of which is for sale.

"Everything you can touch, you can buy," Daniel said.

It's the second café he and brother Zac have set up together, and opened four months ago.

"It's very modern inside - we've got heaps of colours and a little community table in the middle," he said. "We kept the concepts from the other store."

At Pacific Paradise, Bean There Done That Espresso HQ was listed as number one for six months by the Bean Hunter café rating website and app, and is known for its strong, Italian-style coffee and homey atmosphere, he said.

"We're not after fruits and tangs, we're more into having your coffee that actually tastes like coffee," he said.

"More like your hazelnut and your nutty notes rather you're your fruit notes."

After opening two years ago, the Pacific Paradise café now had a huge local following, Daniel said.

"It's gone from strength to strength. It's now got a really good local support," he said.

"I think people enjoy the fact that they see both the owners.

"Between the two of us we have heaps of ideas - we're here and we're both involved heavily in both the stores."

The Carew brothers' Pelican Waters café and drive-through was starting to attract regulars and business was steadily growing, Daniel said.

"We've got the same kind of cheeky banter as the first store but bringing it up here," he said.

"We're trying to make it a bit more personal and hands-on rather than ... manufactured.

"There's a local base starting to come in all the time.

"Each day it's newer people coming in."

He said there was a lot happening at the new residential community, and he was excited the cafe would be a feature from early in its development.
