ON INTERNATIONAL Day of Radiology, the Sunshine Coast Radiology Clinic is calling on the community to acknowledge the important role radiology plays in society.
Radiologist Siavash Es'haghi said the day was specifically about educating the community about what radiology was and what it did.
"We want people to understand the importance of radiology and the importance it has for the general population and communities,” he said.
"It is a growing industry with improving technologies to improve the accuracies and speed of the diagnosis.
"Which in turn improves patients' health.”
Catherine Chantler, a breast cancer survivor and on-going patient of the clinic, said Sunshine Coast Radiology had become part of her family.
Her story started back in 2004, when she went for a routine mammogram through the national breast screening program and was diagnosed with the disease.
"I've had wonderful care all the way through,” she said.
"I owe an awful lot to this wonderful bunch of professionals.
"Every year, because I'm a two time survivor, I return to the clinic and consistently receive the same high level of care.”
