Adelaide Strikers weapon becomes youngest No.1 ever

RASHID Khan has made history as the youngest ever man to top the International Cricket Council's player rankings in any format.

At 7092 days of age - just under 19 and a half years old - Rashid has been crowned one-day cricket's best male bowler, sharing No.1 spot with Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah.

The legspinner shot up eight spots on the bowling rankings after taking 16 wickets at 7.93 runs apiece in Afghanistan's 4-1 series win over Zimbabwe.

Rashid is nearly two years younger than the previous record holder. Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq was No.1 on the ODI bowling charts when he was 7683 days old in January 1998.

The West Indies' Stafanie Taylor is the youngest player to ever top an ICC ranking table. She was No.1 on the women's Twenty20 rankings when she was only 6907 days old in 2010.

Bumrah climbed two places to join Rashid on top of the bowling rankings after a stellar series against South Africa (eight wickets at 20.87, economy of 3.97).

Indian spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were the most significant movers in the latest ICC rankings update.

Chahal shot up 21 spots to No.8 after taking 16 wickets at 16.37 against South Africa and Yadav 47 to No.16 after taking 17 at 13.88.

Australia has two bowlers in the top 10, with Josh Hazlewood fourth and Mitchell Starc 10th.
