Relish a little bit on the side before food and wine fest
FOOD and wine lovers can sample some of the finer flavours of the Fraser Coast in the lead-up to this year's Relish Food and Wine Fest on Saturday, June 8.
Organisers have partnered with a number of great local businesses for a series of off-site attractions including a four-course degustation lunch at Coast Restaurant and Bar in Hervey Bay on Saturday, June 1.
Councillor for sport, recreation, open spaces and events Darren Everard said it was a great opportunity to sample some fresh seasonal produce prepared by award-winning chefs.
"The food is world class and will whet the appetite in the week leading up to Relish," he said.
"The team at Coast were recently awarded the Diners Choice Award at the Queensland Good Guide Awards in Brisbane.
"Coast also retained its one-hat rating in the Good Food Guide, making it the only hat-rated restaurant between Noosa and Townsville and we're thrilled to have them onboard for one of the most exciting events of the year."
Tickets are $85 per person and bookings can be made by contacting Coast on 4125 5454.
Villa Cavour Bed and Breakfast in Point Vernon will also present two gourmet cooking classes on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2.
Cr Everard said head chef Rocco had worked in some the finest restaurants in Europe and would give participants all the skills to prepare some delicious Italian dishes.
"You don't have to be a master chef to come along and learn a few new skills from one of the best in the business," he said.
"Both cooking classes will be followed by a dinner and wine degustation and I'm expecting both of these events to prove very popular and set the tone for Relish."

Relish Fraser Coast will showcase the best regional produce and products from across the region, as well as local cafes and restaurants, award winning wines and gourmet food stalls.
"It's well on its way to becoming one of the region's signature events," Cr Everard said.
"It's transformed the traditional Pub Fest weekend into two days of fantastic food, wine and culture.
"We're aiming to provide a total festival experience, from seasonal produce and local seafood, wine and cheese tastings and beer and food matching sessions.
"Add to that, cooking and coffee demonstrations from innovative chefs, award-winning regional wineries and even a home brew competition to name a few of the attractions already on board."
