ARMCHAIRS for reading, an artist's retreat, natural timbers and hand-crafted toys.
This is what greets kids at Bribie Island Community Kindergarten, one of only a handful of childcare providers in the region awarded the highest ranking, 'excellent' in the latest Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority data released.
Much was made of the rating system by our readers, many critical of the ranking system, arguing it often failed to paint the full picture of what services are being provided and how childcare centres are operating.
Other providers to successfully achieve the 'excellent' ranking in the region were Buderim's Milford Lodge Child Care Centre and Pelican Waters- Golden Beach Preschool Kindergarten and Child Care at Golden Beach.
There were plenty other providers across the region who are 'exceeding NQS' (the second-highest grading), meaning they were eligible to apply for an 'excellent' grading, which can be awarded by the Authority.
