PHOTOS: Roxie in hat-trick at Sunshine Coast Marathon

ROXIE Fraser reckons "less is more" when it comes to training for marathons.

And she's got recent titles to prove it.

The 31-year-old had done very little training this year before winning the Brisbane Marathon early last month and then the Sunshine Coast Marathon yesterday.

She won the 42.2km test from Alexandra Headland in 2hrs52mins46sec, eight minutes ahead of Marita Eisler.

"I've done my second marathon in one month, and without training ... it hasn't sunk in," she said. "I'm just really happy.

"It just goes to show that less (training) is more for marathons really."

The former Sunshine Coaster, who now lives in Brisbane, credited Commonwealth Games gold medallist Michael Shelley for providing her with the motivation to win a third straight Sunshine Coast title.

She was enthused by Shelley's performance at Glasgow, where he bucked the odds to beat a field which included several gun African runners.

"When Michael won at the Commonwealth Games I got all inspired," she said.

But not enough to make her believe she will surpass her personal best of 2:42.22, which was achieved in 2009, when she finished second to Lauren Shelley in a photo finish at the Melbourne Marathon.
